CIRCLE
Instruction:
Let's try to talk about circle in unusual way - trying to find it everywhere - in nature, art, history, customs etc.
Then we'll try to present our work in a creative way, using different tools (whatever we and our students find interesting).

Difference between circle and circular line (Čačak, Serbia) |
Circles In Our Everyday Life (Čačak, Serbia) |
Our team is made by 5th grade students.
By our curriculum, on this level we learn about circular line and circle as the sets of dots. We define diameter, radius and talk about different positions of two circles, finding out what their intersections could be. This book was made as a set of comics about the difference between circle and circular line. |
If we look more closely, we will notice that circles really are all around us. We are opening a window of our daily lives and showing you some little things that surround us every day.

Drawing inspired by a picture (Romania)We managed to use Mathematics in practical life by drawing several circles inspired by a model on one of Banffy Castle's walls.
The Geometry of Circle (Bodrum, Turkey)Here the presentation that we've worked about circle and its parts.
Basically, in this video we are dealing with circles in an artistic way. Drawing circles, radius, diameter, circumference, arcs, angles, chords, the longest chord, tangent. Also we use everyday life materials such as mugs, jar lids, tapes etc. Our π pie for Pi Day. Watch the tail, little fish! (Žitorađa, Serbia)We tried to figure out which angle is greater by playing with fishes and their tails :)

Draw and calculate circumference of circle (Slovakia)When taking the curriculum circumference of the circle we made practical activity.
Students produced outside their circle of different radii. We practiced a formula for calculating the circumference. Students practical measure length, drawing and counting . A fun and practical form of received knowledge . The pupils practiced foreign language and appear before the camera . Different length of sport tracks the sports stadium (Slovakia)In File "Diferent length of sport track the sport stadium" we can see to use maths by students.
They measured, played sport and counting. BellAmos Mária
Planting and circle (Slovakia)Near our school is a nice playground and running track.
In the middle of the field where it is necessary to plant grass seed. Students already know to calculate perimeter and area of a circle and now have to use this knowledge in practice. Task was: How much is grass seed that we need to plant lawn around the running track. Students first had to find the necessary informations on the internet and also to measure. Students then used the information identified and calculated example. _

2. Partly Circles (United Kingdom)
Circle Problems
1) Can you solve them and describe ways in which each might be connected to one or both of the others?
Explain why ab = cd?
(where a,b,c,d are lengths) |
2) These three circles are drawn so that they touch each other and their centres are all on the line AB.
If CD is 8 units in length, what is the area of the part that is shaded yellow? If the area shaded yellow is equal to the area of the larger of the two circles that are shaded blue,
what is the relationship between the radii of the three circles? |
